Article EMAIL ERROR: Error Number: 0x800CCC0F
===============================

Problem:
This is usually down to a corrupt or over-full email inbox. Outlook Express is not very good at holding large amounts of emails especially if they have large attachments. This is a regular problem that are known to incurs inside Outlook Express when there are too many emails (like more than 4K) or too many attachments inside the folders where the entire ?personal folders? exceeded 2GB space. Due to the limit of OE, the program itself gets corrupted too easily when the limit is hit.

Solutions
----------
I want to recover back my emails. What shall I do?

1: MOVE OUT the original mailboxes.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
STEP 1) Go to ?Tools? > ?Options? > ?Maintenance? tab >
STEP 2) Click ?Store Folder?. You will see a path to the OE Mailboxex.
STEP 3) Select the whole path, right-click and copy;
STEP 4) Click START BUTTON -> Run;
STEP 5) Paste the path in the box and click OK;
STEP 6) Copy everything inside this folder to another folder that is easier to access too. (e.g. c:\OE_TEMP);
STEP 7) Run MS Outlook program and use the Import wizard to import from files.

2: IMPORT BACK THE EMAILS from the .dbx files. (DO NOT CLOSE YOUR OUTLOOK YET)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To import back the emails, use the import Wizard. Kindly follow the steps below:

STEP 1) Click on "File" -> "Import";
STEP 2) Choose ?Message", Click NEXT;
STEP 3) Choose "Outlook Express 6", Click NEXT;
STEP 4) Browse for the folder where the backup mailbox is kept (e.g. c:\OE_TEMP), Click OK to choose that folder;

STEP 6) Choose ?All Folder? or select the specific folder to import, Click NEXT;
STEP 7) All the emails will be imported according to your folder of choice. Just wait until the import finishes;
STEP 8) Click FINISH to close the import screen.

3: DELETE THE UNECESSARY EMAILS and check the Personal Folder Size.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Proceed to delete any unnecessary emails before the Outlook Express is closed. You may check the personal folder size using these steps below:

STEP 1) Right-Click on the ?Personal Folders? and choose ?Properties?. The Personal Folder is the top level on top of Inbox/Outbox/Sent/Delete?etc.;
STEP 2) Click "Folder Size" BUTTON;
STEP 3) Wait until the calculation completes. Do not intend to do anything else until the calculation is completed. You may think that the OE hang but it is actually working on the size. Just wait until the OE results appears.

STEP 4) Read the part that says ?Total Size (Including Subfolders)? which the number MUST NOT exceeded 2 Million KBs. If so, you will need to go continue deleting or moving out the emails elsewhere.

How to prevent this from happening again?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
You have to choose between these two choices below if you would like to avoid this to happen again.

Choice 1: Maintain your emails below 2GB storage limit. Check your Folder Size of the ?Personal Folders? frequently to avoid the total file size (Including the subfolders) which should not exceeded 2 million KB.

Choice 2: Upgrade to Windows Mail 7 or Microsoft Outlook 2003 onwards.
